Find the source first
We trace the leak before we fix it
A stain on a ceiling is rarely directly under the hole. Water travels along the substrate, the framing and the membrane laps before it shows up inside, so patching the obvious spot often just moves the problem. We start by tracing the leak back to where it actually enters: a split or lifted lap, a failed upstand, a blocked outlet, a cracked junction or a fixing that has gone through the membrane.
Once we know the cause, we recommend the repair that suits the system already there. Where the fault is local, a targeted repair is the sensible choice. Where a deck has failed more widely, our deck and balcony waterproofing page explains what a new membrane involves, and for roofs with a lot of small details a liquid-applied membrane over a prepared surface can be the better fix.
What we repair
Our waterproofing repair services
Membrane roof repairs
We assess and repair damaged roofing membranes, replace sections where needed and reinforce the surrounding area to help prevent future issues.
Gutter refurbishment
Gutters are prone to blockages and damage. We clean, repair and replace gutters so water runs off and drains the way it should.
Deck and balcony restoration
Weathered, worn and water-damaged decks restored so they are safe, watertight and ready for everyday use again.
Other waterproofed areas
Parapets, upstands, planter boxes and other waterproofed details where water is getting past the membrane.

Repair or replace?
An honest call on repair or replacement
Not every leak needs a new membrane. If the membrane is sound and the fault is in one place, we repair it. If the membrane has reached the end of its life, has failed in several places, or the substrate underneath is wet and soft, a repair will only buy time, and we will tell you so before you spend money on it.
If replacement is the right answer, the job is planned like new work: the old membrane comes off, the substrate is checked and repaired, and a new system goes down. ARDEX has a useful write-up of what a full deck membrane replacement involves on an apartment building. On flat roofs, our membrane roofing service covers replacement roofs as well.
What affects the price of a repair
- How many leaks there are and how far the water has travelled
- Access: ladder, roof access or scaffolding
- Whether the substrate underneath is damaged
- The type of membrane already installed
- Tiles, pavers or decking that have to be lifted first
- Repair of one area or replacement of the whole surface

FAQs
Repair questions
Is a repair covered by your workmanship warranty?
Our 10-year workmanship warranty covers the work we carry out within the agreed scope. Parts of an existing membrane that we have not worked on are not covered, which is one reason we tell you plainly when replacement makes more sense than a repair.
Do you fix gutters as well as membranes?
Yes. Gutter refurbishment is part of our repair work: cleaning, repairing and replacing gutters so water drains away properly instead of backing up into the roof.
What should I do while I wait for you?
Move belongings away from the leak and take photos of where water shows inside and outside. If it is safe to reach from the ground or a deck, clear leaves from outlets and gutters. Do not go up on a roof in wet weather. The photos help us trace the source faster.
Do you repair commercial roofs and decks?
Yes. We carry out repairs on residential and commercial properties across Auckland.
